The defective door in the Hero's Duty tower opened, but Calhoun didn't dare let her guard down yet.  She walked in, "Felix?" she called, but all she heard were her echoes. He wasn't here, and she noticed splashes of red and green on the walls. Her chest tightened, No… she began to run down the tower.  Calling his name fearing she wouldn't find him, but after what felt like one too many floors she saw him, crumpled up on the floor, and not moving.

She fell to her knees beside him, her hands shaking as she surveyed the situation. He was bloodied, bruised, and lying too still.  She put a hand on his chest, his heart was faintly beating, but that didn't make this easier. "Felix…"

Felix opened his eyes at the touch and when he saw Tamora, he smiled, instantly feeling soothed. "I got them all," He breathed and weakly held up his gun, but immediately dropped it and his hand fell to his side.  A gurguly cough shook him and made him wince.

Her lip quivered and an actual tear slipped out but the darkness hid her face.  "Good job soldier." This was her fault, all her fault.  Why did Felix have to suffer because of her?  She placed a hard fist on the metal ground; it was almost as cold as her.  Too cold. She slipped her hands under Felix's head and legs and pulled him onto her lap.  His usual warmth was gone and she promptly felt the wet sticky blood that he was soaked in.  She bit her lip to the point of pain, more tears slipping through, as she held him up to her chest in an attempt to warm him up.  "You're going to be ok," all the previous preoccupation of hiding her emotions were gone, "We'll get out of here and I'll fix you up," making promises she couldn't keep she held him closer. "I'll fix you up," she cooed again, but this time her words reminded her of his hammer and she quickly put a hand on his tool belt where it had to be. Her heart fell to her feet when she felt nothing.  She looked at Felix's face and his grave expression sealed the suspicion.

"Where is it?" she snapped, and watched him as he tried to remember.  His eyes kept closing but he would force them open.  "Where?!" She pressed, probably too hard.

Felix only shook his head, "I don't know…I lost it," tears in his own eyes now, "I'm sorry."  Tamora felt a shiver start at her feet and it built up until she had to clench her teeth to keep herself steady.  It could be anywhere because he had ran all over the tower in an attempt to stay alive, which wasn't the problem.  The problem was that he didn't remember where it had it fallen out.

"Don't be sorry," She tried to succor him, but who was she kidding? They both knew the urgency of the situation. Tamora thought about putting him down and looking for it, but she didn't dare leave him without protection again.  Never again.  She could carry him while she looked, but he was so injured that the search could be too much for him.  For that moment her mind went blank.  What was she to do?

She held him tight again, but a gasp of pain that escaped him forced her to loosen her hold and feel even more useless.  She looked at him as his eyes closed again, grief squeezing her heart to the point of physical pain. "We don't need it." Her voice grew deeper from the tightness of her throat, "We don't need it. You'll be ok, we don't need it," She aimlessly rambled and placed her forehead against his. Oh, why, why was this happening?

Felix felt her warm tears fall on his face, his heart breaking worse than his body.  He reached up and touched her face, "Don't cry," He pleaded, but sounded silly because he was crying too, the gesture digging deep in his chest and hurting, but he couldn't stop.  He wiped her tears feebly, but Tamora grabbed his hand and pressed it to her lips.  She had to pull herself together no matter how hard if she wanted even a remote chance to pull him out of this one.

She nodded and gingerly cradled him against her and stood up.  She had to get him out of here. "Stay awake," the order sounded weak, but it was still an order.

"Yes ma'am" He spoke so faintly the only reason she knew what he had said was because she knew him so well.

"I mean it Fix-it, I better hear you talking all the way down." She didn't know what else to do.  She was no medic, no care taker, and no training had ever prepared her for this.

"I don't know what to say," his sounded fragile enough to break.  Felix was trying so hard to act like nothing was wrong, but even he couldn't deny the end as it drew near.  The drowsy feeling was heavy and all he wanted was to sleep…

"Now Fix-it! Get talking!" She shook him slightly and began to run down the stairs being careful not to bounce him up and down too much, but not too careful, perhaps the movement would keep him awake.

He groaned a bit from the movements and Tamora's armor rubbing his cut and bruised skin, but he had to do as he was told, "I've loved you from the start, in every single way…" He began reciting the words to a song that reminded him of her.  He knew it by heart, making it easy for the words to spill out, "and more each passing day…" perhaps the pain was muddling his brain, but he was conscious enough to speak the words to her.

Tamora felt more tears run down her face as he mumbled the lyrics.  She sped up setting the goal to get to the bottom before he was finished.

"You are brighter than the stars…believe me when I say, it's not about your scars… it's all about your heart." He closed his eyes again barely being able to finish, and then grew silent.

"Like a lock without a key," Tamora prompted him into some part of the song that she somehow remembered.  Felix's eyes opened to her voice and found her again.

"Like a mystery without a clue," He pushed through his heavy eyelids, and continued.

"There is no me," For some reason Tamora kept going, almost like a plea or a last confession.

"If I cannot have you." Felix finished and watched his beautiful wife through the tears and the blur of pain, and he felt his heart swell.  He loved her so much, and he couldn't bear to think that this could be it.  Good things shouldn't end. Love should never have to reach a finish line. That was too cruel. He focused on her, and wished he could be the comfort she desperately needed, but still his eyes slipped shut.
Ok, here it is. I wrote it because well some people wanted to know why everybody was so upset in my previous story "Almost is far from Actually" so here it is! but since I got overexcited it will be split into parts. So have fun with part one!
